Samia Nelson Psychotherapy

Space to be

Welcome

We all have times in life when we need support. Sometimes we can feel confused and overwhelmed, finding it difficult to make sense of our experiences, to trust others or even trust ourselves.

You may be seeking a deeper understanding of yourself or clarity about the relationships and dynamics that shape your life. I offer culturally attuned therapy to individuals, couples and groups.

My intention is to cultivate an authentic, respectful relationship with you. Whatever you may be struggling with, together we can create a space for reflection, opening pathways toward clarity, steadiness and transformation.

I am a member of the following institutions and abide by their code of ethics (UKCP) (EATA) (UKATA) (BAATN) & The Metanoia Institute

My work is rooted in a social justice approach and grounded in a philosophy of inclusiveness, embracing all cultures and identities. I pay close attention to the dynamics of power within relationships and to how social, cultural, and historical influences shape our sense of self. I have a deep regard for ordinary human suffering and welcome all experiences you may bring into the therapy room.

My approach is relational, integrating a range of therapeutic approaches and healing practices that honour both evidence-based methods and lived experience. I bring together different ways of working and practices of care; accompanying and supporting people in remembering their strength and belonging.

I take a pluralistic approach to therapy, honouring the different ways people find healing and meaning. I’m especially interested in practices that support embodied awareness and I believe in the profound healing potential of groups and the power of community to nurture connection and growth.

I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment that recognises and respects the richness of neurodiversity, sexual orientation, and gender identity.  â€‹I also offer clinical supervision, teach and facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic support groups.

I am an active, reflective practitioner, deeply committed to my own continuous personal and professional development, so I can provide effective ethical therapy.

Working together

My intention is to create a mutual space of safety and trust, where you can make sense of your experiences, enabling you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and draw on your inner and cultural strengths.

I believe relationships are at the heart of being human and our difficulties can be understood through exploring how we connect to ourselves and others around us. Thus, exploring the ebb and flow of our unique relationship will be central to the therapeutic effectiveness of our work together.

Using my knowledge, intuition, lived experience and empathic challenge, I will support you in navigating your internal world and help you understand how you relate and connect to yourself, people and your environment. I genuinely believe if you are ready to create space to re-member yourself, together, we can create a therapeutic pathway that will enable change.

Individual Therapy

Sessions will take place at a mutually agreed time and day, each week, for 50 mins. At our initial session, we can explore your reasons for seeking therapy and experience what our time together will be like.

I mainly work long-term open-ended. Depending on your expectations, we will work together for an agreed amount of time and review our work periodically.

Relationship Therapy

You may be stuck in unhelpful patterns of relating and could benefit from support in finding new ways to connect with each other. We will have an initial assessment, where we will agree on how best to work together and commit to a further six sessions. We can then review our work together and decide whether to continue for a longer period.

Supervision

I offer regular and ad hoc individual and monthly group supervision.

Groups

Please email me for information on current groups I am running or if you wish me to facilitate a therapy, support or process group for your organisation.
